Well guys, it had to happen sooner or later — Instagram is going to start putting ads in between the shots of your outfit of the day and pictures of a bowl of noodles in your feed.
In their blog post announcing the shift, Instagram tossed us this bone:
Our aim is to make any advertisements you see feel as natural to Instagram as the photos and videos many of you already enjoy from your favorite brands.
Of course, this should come as no surprise as they’re following the same path as their predecessors in the space. Social start-ups work hard to develop a user base to the point where their app become part of our routines and that’s when they get you.
I don’t fault them. Developers gotta eat too, but I can’t help but think this will change the quirkiness of the little start-up that could.
What are your thoughts?
